Large Hadron Collider Breaks Energy Record

CERN scientists are restarting the Large Hadron Collider, built to reproduce the conditions of the big bang. They have successfully  accelerated the machine’s twin beams of protons to 1.18 trillion electron volts. Scientists hope to produce 14 trillion electron volts by colliding the beams together.

Researchers hope to find the God Particle, also known as Higgs boson particle which occurs during the Big Bang.

The experiment has been delayed with several issues. Recently a bird dropped a baguette into the Hadron Collider causing it to overheat. This is the third time the machine has to be shut down.
